We just returned after being invited by Bon Appetit Magazine to Showcase our chocolates at Vegas Uncorked Grand Tasting. We also were asked to provide Chocolate VIP bags for Top Chef Rick Moonan, Hubert Keller, and Susan Feniger Culinary Theater: All the Kitchens's a Stage. Our chocolates were a Hit! During times of stress, chocolate is a great soother. During the winter months when the sun is low and does not shine as much we need things that bring happiness to our lives. Chocolate is one of those things. The pleasure that we get from placing it in our mouths, letting it slowly melt feeling the flavors burst on our tongues can get us through the long evenings. A little of a great chocolate has a way of soothing our soul. This is one of the reasons that I started doing chocolates. We live in an area that is chock full of people during the summer months. As the Christmas Holidays approach people here become a little I guess the word is unhappy.All visitors have left, people are laid off, business close for the season, money is tight. I noticed this year that there were hardly any Christmas lights on, no parties, long faces on those who were shopping. We are facing hardships of economic proportions that many under 40 have never experienced before. So I have continued to make my Gingerbread houses with chocolates on them to spread a little whimsey and happines. We need to remember that its not about what you spend and give, its about how you live, treat others, do for others, cherish the moments with loved ones, and in general living our lives to benefit the happiness we can give others, and receiving the love and happiness we get in return. Towns can still have funky parades for little to no cost. Using items laying around. I know all of you have decorations you have in the attic that you don't use. So next year start early doing things to lighten the day all throughout the year. And Yes.....Eat chocolate!!!!!
